I've been remiss

First, thank you thank you to everyone that commented, emailed, left messages on Facebook and Twitter with words of concern and support! I hope each and every one of you know how much it means to me!

And second, I am so sorry to have left some of you hanging this past week as to how Rich is doing. I did answer emails and it was posted on facebook, but I never quite made it to MNT until now.

So, Rich is doing great! He was released from the hospital late Monday afternoon on oral antibiotics and with strict orders to return if the pain or swelling increased. He isn't going back to work until tomorrow so had some time to rest and enjoy having the house to himself for a couple days. He did laundry for me and caught me back up on the folding that didn't get down while he was in the hospital.

The boys are obviously both ecstatic to have him back.

So Rich's hand is almost back to normal. It swells a little if he uses it too much and there is still some pain if he hits the wrong place. It is a good thing he is going back to work tomorrow. Just saying...

So I am now even further behind than I was before he was admitted. When I came up to bed at 10pm to have an hour to read or write myself to sleep, in actuality I had to give one cat his pills, then his treats, then rotate a load of laundry out of the dryer so I could put another load in. And while doing that I realized the cat was peeing in my wicker laundry basket. So I had to scrub that out. And then I cleaned out the litter box since I'm fairly sure he was protesting that. And then I realized that I never washed Kiel's sheet and blanket for daycare tomorrow, so that load is in there now. I just hope I remember to put it in the dryer in time. And then I had to feed the cats, refill the canister I store the food in, get them clean water, and pull out Kiel's clothes for tomorrow.

But we are all fine now. Kiel is recuperating from his double ear infection and is just as cute as ever. Noah had two great days on Thursday and Friday at school. And we had our first water ice of the season yesterday and sat out on the deck today.

I went to a very interesting conference on autism yesterday which I'll have to take some time and tell you about later. I found some new resources that may be helpful and heard of another grant I think Noah will be eligible for.

On the sleep front Noah has not brought any more bologna into bed with me. Whew. Unfortunately he is still having a lot of trouble sleeping and is awake for hours at a time (like right now) or at 3am. In fact the other night he managed to order a $6 movie on demand from Verizon. Guess we need to utilize those child locks on the remote. I am stumped as to what to do with him when he's so wide awake. He says he just wants to go down and watch TV, but it makes me very uncomfortable to have him downstairs in the middle of the night when we aren't there. He gets into all kinds of food, which really isn't a big deal, and so far he hasn't damaged anything like he did a year or so ago when this happened (honey all over the dining room floor and piano). But still, I'm always on alert now and I do worry about what he might do, but even more I worry about how his next day will be because he didn't get enough sleep.

So tell me? How was your weekend? Did you do something fun?

  5. Glad to hear your husband is at home and doing much better:)

Have you tried a weighted blanket for Noah? My Eli has to use one every night in order to stay asleep for the night. He also has to have a small space to sleep in - we had to make some accomodations to his twin bed. But it's been much better since doing all this:) Hope Noah starts sleeping more for his sake and yours soon.
