Oh wow, first I need to say how much I am enjoying all the comments! I've had more comments in the last three days than I've had in the almost three years I've been blogging! Loving it!
So, anyway...I've already written that I'm going to be moving my blog to regain my anonymity. The only thing holding me back is I'm not quite sure where I want to set up my new digs. What do you guys think? Should I keep it on blogger or start up somewhere else like wordpress? I welcome any advice!
I haven't been able to leave comments in so very long. Too much work and not enough blogging! I have no advice, except if you don't want to start over and learn all the particulars of a new blog, then stay with bloggger. Where ever you go...don't forget to take me. You know where to find me! XO Daisy
ReplyDeleteIf I started my blog all over again, I'd go with Wordpress. I like the features a lot more. But it isn't as user friendly as Blogger, so keep that in mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments on my daughter! I'm going to take your advice about the baby food and try making some of my own. Thank you for your tips...I definitely need them since I need instructions just to boil water.
No advice, just make sure I get the info, I would be sad to lose you after just finding you!
ReplyDeleteI have no good suggestions. But you had better (holds fist out menacingly) send me the link. Or I might cry.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for wanting to start anew; I would do the same thing if I knew my boss was reading everything I wrote. The situation just stinks and I'm so sorry you were "outed." I think your coworker is a jerk (and I hope she reads this). :)
ReplyDeleteI regret not starting up on Wordpress because, unlike Blogger, it lets you password protect single posts. But it's not as user-friendly.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes as you start over--sorry you need to do that!
wow, I can't imagine what I would do if I was outed. This blog is my only avenue to express so many of my lab issues. I would stick with a system I know as its been hard to learn the ropes, but I'm not the most savvy of computers. oh here from nacomleavmo
ReplyDeleteOhh, what a pain...I read the post where your co-worker blabbed on you. I'm a brand-new blogger, so I don't know too much about blogging yet, but I would think that if you stay with blogger, it will be easier for you, b/c you're already familiar with how it works. I hope you'll be able to save all of your content? Good luck with the "move".
ReplyDeleteps, I would love to keep reading, so somehow let us know what your new address is please. : )
here from NCLM...thanks for checking out my dancin'fool of a hubby! I'm on blogger too, so that's all I know. Crappy that you were "outed"...hope you can go back under the radar soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI've only been blogging for about a month so I am not good with advice for where to move to.
Wow, that sucks about your co-worker. For Blogger you are familiar with it, just get a new url you are SET. Wordpress seems cool, cant say I know too much about it though. Anyway whatever u decide it'll be great.
ReplyDeleteThe two platforms I know are Blogger and Livejournal, and while I like Livejournal well enough, it's not great for interacting with blogs outside of LJ. I think it would certainly be simplest to stay with Blogger, since you know it and it would be much easier to transfer your archives over.

I highly recommend WordPress. Lots of bloggers say they wish they'd gone with WordPress, but I've never seen a blogger say they wish they'd gone with Blogger.
ReplyDeleteAs far as how easy it is to use, I use the FAQ all the time and I've been able to figure out everything I need. Don't stick with Blogger just because it's what you know. Check out other blogs and see what you like. You might also try googling "wordpress versus blogger." I'm sure there's articles that look at the pros and cons of each and compare them side by side.
In fact, I went and found this one: http://leahdukecook.wordpress.com/2008/04/17/thursday-thoughts-wordpress-vs-blogspot/
There's pros and cons to each. Research it before you decide, though. :-)
I second Trish's comment. I started with Vox and moved to Wordpress when I found out anyone who wanted to leave a comment had to register. I had zero blogging experience but someone recommended Wordpress and I have found it to be easy to use and maintain.
ReplyDeleteI'm here from NaComLeavMo and bringing thanks for your comment on my blog!
I'm here from NCLM and use Wordpress. To me the only major downside of Wordpress is that they don't allow ads, but if that isn't important to you then it won't make much difference (and may even be a good thing). They have a couple of neat features.
ReplyDeleteAs a commenter, I'm not a huge fan of the other services like LiveJournal. They just aren't as comment-friendly. Best of luck!
I prefer blogger, but only because it's easier for me to comment on blogger, since I'M on blogger--once I'm logged in, I don't have to do it every time. But that's just my laziness. I like to comment, but hate to keep logging in!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I have only worked with blogger and it does drive me crazy sometimes, but I am sure that is true for all sites! I have heard some of the other sites are a little harder unless you have more computer experience - which I do not! Good Luck! Here from NCLM!
ReplyDeleteI cannot give you any advice on different blogging sites since I am so new - but I wanted to thank you for coming to my blog.
ReplyDeleteAs far as my misadventures in the kitchen go - you go right ahead and laugh...I am here for your (and only yours-so no one else better be laughing) amusement. (LOL)
When you move your site, let me know where you are so I can keep an eye on y'all!!
I feel the same way about getting the comments. My blog is on blogger but I think Wordpress is nice, too.
ReplyDeleteWe had a blog for a short time on Wordpress and didn't have the time nor the energy to figure it; it was harder to use. So we went back to blogger; Blogger is easy.
ReplyDeleteReally no advice either way, we just got very comfortable with Blogger and didn't need to spend any more time on the computers - we are already addicted!
Thanks for visiting!

I would check out all the blog sites (typepad, blogger, wordpress) and see what they have to offer. Also, if you like the setup of a fellow blogger ask them if they like the site that they are using. Thank you for your comment!
ReplyDeleteIf I were to start a new one, I would probably go with Wordpress. I like the feature to protect specific posts as well as set up multiple pages. I think it would help to have a history page to get new people who stop by up to speed quickly on your story.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your co-worker causing all this drama. I would be so pissed. Good luck.
I've used blogger (for a blog that I contribute to from time to time), wordpress (for that blog and one I created for my son), and typepad, and I liked Typepad the most and found it the easiest to use and that it had the most features that I liked. The big drawback, of course, is that it's not free. All the services have their pros and cons, so staying with blogger might be the easiest for you. So sorry that you were outed -- I'll have to go back and find that post.
